The greatest peaceful gathering of the people on the earth is kumbh  mela( or)kumbh mela . is a major pilgrimage and festival in hinduism . It celebrate ed in cycle of approximately 12 years once at four river bank

HISTORY OF KUMBH MELA
These kumbh mela festival is traditionally credited to the 8th centuries hindu philosopher  aadi shankara as a part of his effort to start major hindu gathering for philosophical discussion and debate along  with hindu monasteries across the indian sub continent
The weeks over which the festival is  observed cycle at each site approximately once every 12 years based on hindu  lunisolar calendar and relative astrological position of jupiter sun and moon
The earliest  mention of of prayag and bathing philigrimage is found in rigveda
