HISTORY OF GOLDEN TEMPLE

The harmandir sahib also spelled as harmindar harimandir ( or) harmandir sahib . It also called the darbar sahib which mean "scared audience"as well as the golden temple for it gold foil covered santun center . Harmandir composed two words hari which various translate as god mandir which mean house
This harmandir sahib was chosen by guru amar das third  guru of sikh tradition it was then called guru da chakk
Guru Ram Das acquired the land for the location . Two versions of stories exist on how he acquired this land. In one, based on , the land was purchased with Sikh donations of 700 rupees from the owners of the village of tung In another version, Emperor akbar is stated to possess donated the land to the wife of Guru Ram Das.

In 1581, Guru Arjan initiated the development of the Gurdwara. During the development the pool was kept empty and dry. It took 8 years to finish the primary version of the Harmandir Sahib. Guru Arjan planned a gurdwara at A level less than the town to emphasize humility and therefore the got to efface one's ego before entering the premises to satisfy the Guru.He also demanded that the gurdwara compound be open on all sides to emphasize that it had been hospitable all. The sanctum inside the pool where his Guru seat was had just one bridge to emphasize that the top goal was one, states Arvind-Pal Singh Mandair. In 1589, the gurdwara made with bricks was complete.signalling pluralism which the Sikh tradition welcomed all. This belief is however unsubstantiated. consistent with Sikh traditional sources like sri guru swaraj prakash granth it had been laid by Guru Arjan himself After the inauguration, the pool was crammed with water. On 16 August 1604, Guru Arjan completed expanding and compiling the primary version of the Sikh scripture and placed a replica of the Adi Granth within the gurdwara. He appointed baba budha because the first granti
Ath Sath Tirath, which suggests "shrine of 68 pilgrimages", may be a raised canopy on the parkarma (circumambulation marble path round the pool, reflects the assumption that visiting this temple is like 68 Hindu pilgrimage sites within the Indian subcontinent, or that a Tirath to the Golden Temple has the efficacy of all 68 Tiraths combined. The completion of the primary version of the Golden Temple was a serious milestone for Sikhism, states Arvind-Pal Singh Mandair, because it provided a central pilgrimage place and a point for the Sikh community, set within a hub of trade and activity.
Most of the temples and other religious places we see, they need one entrance and one exit.
But the Darbar Sahib is open from all four sides. it's a logo of latest faith found out by the Sikh Guru which spreads the message that the temple is accessible to people from every caste, sex and religion.Since the time of Nanak , the primary guru of the Sikh people that started the tradition in 1481, the Golden Temple in Amritsar has been serving free hot meals, also referred to as langar, to people of all religions and faiths who come to its doors a day
STRUCTURE OF GOLDEN

Initially golden temple made of marble the golden temple  was later plated real gold the temple was renovated in marble an copper in 1809 ranjit singh donated real gold over lap the sanctum with gold foll  total 160 kg gold were used for golden temple The sanctum may be a 12.25 x 12.25 metre square with two-storeys and a foil dome. This sanctum features a marble platform that's a 19.7 x 19.7 metre square. It sits inside an almost square (154.5 x 148.5 m2) pool called amritsar or amrit sarovar (amrit means nectar, sar is brief sort of sarovar and means pool). The pool is 5.1 metre deep and is surrounded by a 3.7 metre wide circumambulatory marble passage that's circled clockwise. The sanctum is connected to the platform by a causeway and therefore the gateway into the causeway is named the Darshani Ḍeorhi (from Darshana Dvara). For those that wish to require a dip within the pool, the Temple provides a half hexagonal shelter and holy steps to Har ki Pauri. Bathing within the pool is believed by many Sikhs to possess restorative powers, purifying one's karma] Some carry bottles of the pool water home particularly for sick friends and relatives. The pool is maintained by volunteers who perform kar seva (community service) by draining and desilting it periodically.

There are several rites performed everyday within the Golden Temple as per the historic Sikh tradition. These rites treat the scripture as a living person, a Guru out of respect. They include:

Closing rite called sukhasan (sukh means "comfort or rest", asan means "position"). At night, after a series of devotional keerthanas and three part ardas, the Guru Adi Granth is closed, carried on the top , placed into then carried during a flower decorated, pillow-bed palki (palanquin), with chanting. Its bedroom is within the Akal Takht, on the primary floor. Once it arrives there, the scripture is tucked into a bed.
Opening rite called prakash which suggests "light". About dawn everyday, the Guru Adi Granth is taken out its bedroom, carried on the top , placed and carried during a flower-decorated palki with chanting and bugle sounding across the causeway. it's delivered to the sanctum. Then after ritual singing of a series of Var Asa kirtans and ardas, a random page is opened. this is often the mukhwak of the day, it's read aloud , then written out for the pilgrims to read over that day
