The Char Dham (meaning: four abodes) is a set of four pilgrimage sites in India. It is believed that visiting these sites helps achieve moksha (salvation). The four Dhams are, Badrinath, Dwaraka, Puri and Rameswaram. It is believed that each Hindu should visit the char dhams during one's lifetime. The Char Dham as defined by Adi Shankaracharya consists of 4 Hindu pilgrimage sites Another small circuit in Uttarakhand of 4 pilgrimage sites-Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath is referred to as Chota Char Dham.

The four Shankaracharya Peeth (Seats) at the Chaar Dham school of Hinduism, created a minimum of four Hindu monastic institutions. He organised the Hindu practitioners under four Maṭhas (Sanskrit: मठ) (institutions/monasteries), with the headquarters at Dvārakā in the West, Jagannatha Puri in the East, Sringeri Sharada Peetham in the South and Badarikashrama in the North.

 Badrinath is a foremost religious towns, Badrinath is that the holiest of the documented Char Dhams and chota char dam in India. Situated between the Nar and Narayana mountains, Badrinath town may be a land where Badrinath Temple is situated.  on the bank of Alaknanda River. The Badrinath Temple is one among the 108 holy shrines of Vaishnavites Hindu Temple and is devoted to Lord Vishnu.  Dwarka, which in Sanskrit means 'Gateway to heavenThe Dwarkadhish temple, also know because the Jagat Mandir and sometimes spelled Dwarakadheesh, could also be a Hindu temple dedicated to god Krishna, who is worshiped here by the name Dwarkadhish, or 'King of Dwarka'. 3.PURI JAGANNATH


                                 
Jagannath is considered a form of Vishnu. He is a part of a triad along side his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra.  "Jagannath" may be a compound word from Sanskrit, consisting of "Jagat" and "Nath".
 Jagannath means" lord of the world" and as Hindu deities, Krishna / Vishnu / Rama worshipped in Odisha. Odisha is understood for its sacred and famous Jagannath temple, which is in Puri.
